Disney has just announced the change in their release date for their latest 2D animated movie, The Princess And The Frog, to December 11th. Previously slated for a Christmas Day release, it would have originally been against the trio of chipmunks in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel.

Princess Tiana's ready to pucker up
The last couple of traditionally animated films to come out of Disney were Home On The Range and Treasure Planet, both not doing fairly well at all in the box office (especially after putting Rosie O Donell in pitch perfect role). The only other film reported to be on the slate competing against the John Musker (Aladdin, Hercules) and Ron Clements (Great Mouse Detective, Treasure Planet) film is Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the 2002 novel, The Lovely Bones. If the dynamic duo still has some juice left in them, here is hoping to a fairly decent 2D movie, though it technically is not 2D because the animation is rendered through computers to save up on paper (aka ‘going green’).
The plot revolves around a prince named Naveen (Bruno Campos) from the land of Maldonia who is transformed to a frog by the evil scheming vodoo magician called Dr. Facilier (Keith David). The frog prince asks Tiana (Anika Rose) to break the spell by kissing him. However, the kiss doesn’t break the spell but rather makes Tiana a frog as well. Together the two of them must reach the good vodoo priestess of the Bayou, Mama Odie (Jennifer Lewis), while befriending a trumpet playing alligator and a hopelessly romantic firefly along the way.
