
I love Disney’s traditional hand drawn cel animation and I always will. While future generations will grow up in the house that Pixar is building — and certainly, they’re masters of craft and storytelling, and theirs are good hands to be in — I hope that the classic animation of the past in films such as Pinocchio and Snow White will live on.
This is why I’m happy The Princess and the Frog exists. Directed by Jon Musker and Ron Clements (the lads behind Aladdin and The Little Mermaid), the film looks to be proof that traditional animation can survive in a 3D world.
It’s a retelling of the classic frog prince story, set in the French Quarter of Louisiana, with a Cajun twist. Expect a wide release of the film on December 11. Take a look at the trailer below:
