Thor Movie Review

Going into Thor I was hesitant surrounding a few things acting, storyline etc. Comic book movies such as Daredevil, Spiderman 3 and others have bomb due to some of those reason I had in my head.

Well, Thor will not bomb. It is the bomb!

Thor starts off our Summer Season with a bang and doesn’t stop swinging the hammer till the very end.

The storyline is a solid one which starts off with Thor and his brother Loki as children following around Odin (daddy) and learning about the once immense war that unfolded on earth. Frost Giants from another realm had threatened the earths existence along with the peace of all the 9 realms. Odin and his armies lost many but defeated the giants and made a truce to never war against each other again.

It’s a comic book movie, come on, the main character wields a humongous hammer, what do you think is going to happen!? It’s all begins when Thor gets his clouded judgment in the way. Through a fast paced opening war to the one on ones, this movie does a great job at delivering action when necessary and storyline when needed. A great testament to writing and acting colliding in just the right way.

The action scenes, the special effects all are done well. The 3D was pitiful to be honest. I have yet to be impressed by a 3D movie outside of Coraline. The universe in which Branagh unfolds for us is a testament to today’s technology and something that is a must see. The Frost Giants, the realms, the way in which they travel from realm to realm, all feels real as possible.

Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and others really bring these fictional gods into reality in a great way. The acting, while it always can be better, was spot on. Hemsworth is a PIMP as Thor. Honestly he was an excellent pick for this part.

From his shirtless scenes that make Portman heat up, to the fully dressed god of thunder, Hemsworth does a great job with what he has been given.  The cameos are there. Hawkeye is introduced, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson is back and others are brought into the light throughout the film.

For all of you comic book geeks/fans out there, I would recommend this movie highly. For everyone else, I would do the same.

Enjoy it

3.5 out of 5 stars.
