My guess is Cyclops shot a blast at him and Maverick absorbed and redirected the blast. If it isn't Maverick/Agent Zero, it has to be the so called Weapon XI who can use other mutant abilities. If it was Deadpool, he'd be in costume or have lesions all over his body (if the producers filmed it right) seeing as he joined Weapon X to cure his cancer. As a result of the experiments, he'd be left permanently disfigured in appearance.
